Fraport Reports August 2025 Passenger Growth Across Global Airports

Frankfurt, Germany  Fraport AG has reported continued growth in passenger volumes across its airport network in August 2025, with Frankfurt Airport (FRA) handling 6.3 million passengers, up 4.1% year-on-year.

The surge was driven by strong summer holiday demand, with peak travel days exceeding 200,000 passengers daily. On August 3, FRA recorded its highest daily traffic of the year, with 221,360 passengers.

Strong demand across Europe and beyond

European leisure destinations fueled growth, with notable increases for Italy (+17.9%), Greece (+13.0%), and France (+7.5%). Traffic to Norway (+21.8%) and the Czech Republic (+34.7%) also surged.

On long-haul routes, the Middle East registered impressive growth as air travel resumed, with Lebanon (+197.8%) and Israel (+189.2%) seeing significant gains. Demand also surged to Asian destinations such as Sri Lanka (+157.7%) and Thailand (+43.0%). Aircraft movements at FRA climbed 6.4% to 42,946.

Growth across Fraport’s international portfolio

Passenger volumes also expanded across Fraport’s international airports:

  • Ljubljana (LJU), Slovenia: +11.7% (186,226 passengers)
  • Fortaleza (FOR) & Porto Alegre (POA), Brazil: +98.8% (1.2 million passengers), boosted by recovery from 2024 flooding disruptions
  • Lima (LIM), Peru: +2.4% (~2.3 million passengers)
  • 14 Greek airports: +4.0% (6.8 million passengers)
  • Twin Star airports, Bulgaria (BOJ & VAR): +6.9% (857,211 passengers)
  • Antalya (AYT), Türkiye: +3.2% (~6.0 million passengers)

Across its global network, Fraport served 23.6 million passengers in August 2025, reflecting a 6.4% year-on-year increase.

The latest figures highlight sustained demand for European leisure markets and long-haul destinations despite global uncertainties, underscoring Fraport’s resilience and the pivotal role of FRA as a gateway to global travel.
