American Airlines To Launch Nonstop Flights From Miami To Bimini In February

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – American Airlines will become the only U.S. carrier offering nonstop service to Bimini, Bahamas, when it launches flights from Miami International Airport (MIA) on February 14, 2026. The new route underscores the airline’s strategy of expanding access to sought-after leisure destinations across the Caribbean.
Flights will operate three times weekly – on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays – using Embraer 175 aircraft equipped with a premium cabin. The schedule is designed to connect seamlessly with more than 80 U.S. and Canadian destinations via American’s Miami hub.
“American knows that travelers are looking for unique and varied experiences, and that’s why we’ve added destinations like Bimini to our network,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “We recently announced new routes for travelers to explore unique architecture in Prague or Budapest or ski down exciting slopes in Sun Valley, and now we’re offering a new island option in the Bahamas.”

Expanding presence in the Bahamas
Bimini will be American’s seventh destination in the Bahamas, complementing its extensive schedule of more than 30 peak daily flights to the islands this winter—the largest operation of any U.S. carrier. Alongside Bimini, American remains the only U.S. airline offering nonstop flights to Governor’s Harbour (GHB) and Freeport (FPO).
The airline has also added additional holiday-season frequencies to Marsh Harbour (MHH) and North Eleuthera (ELH), reflecting sustained traveler interest in Bahamian destinations.
Miami hub growth
The new service builds on American’s longstanding commitment to Miami, where it has operated for 35 years. MIA remains the airline’s largest international hub, with nonstop flights to more than 160 destinations in over 45 countries and territories. This winter, American will operate a record-setting schedule of more than 430 daily departures from Miami.
The carrier is also investing in passenger amenities, including the construction of a new Flagship lounge at MIA and an expansion of its Admirals Club® lounges, which will more than double available lounge space.
For travel trade professionals, American’s new Bimini route highlights the continued appeal of the Bahamas as a short-haul island destination for North American travelers. The carrier’s dominant position at MIA ensures connectivity for both leisure and connecting passengers, while its growing Caribbean portfolio strengthens its competitiveness in the region.
