Valet Broke My Key And They're Denying My Claim

Card image cap

Location: Texas/Pennsylvania

A few weeks back I stayed at a Hilton hotel in San Antonio on the Riverwalk and valeted my car (1999 Mercedes G500). All weekend I used my car, no issues at all with the valet. Saturday night I return from dinner, hand my key to the valet, and they park it in their garage. The following morning they can't start it and show me my key, a fob with a flip out physical key, with the metal key broken in half (the actual key, not where it connects to the fob).

This resulted in me having to rent a car, drive 8hrs round trip to retrieve my spare, and stay an extra night at the hotel. That's $350 right there. A replacement key is very hard to get (discontinued key that must be reprogrammed) and that could cost me up to 1k.

I made a complaint to the hotel who told me to file a claim with the valet company (Towne Park). The hotel was kind enough to refund all valet fees and the extra hotel night (overall the hotel staff was amazing, they even paid for a locksmith to come out and make sure the key wasn't broken off in the ignition, which it wasn't).

The valet company unfortunately first denied my claim stating "normal physical wear and tear" when they thought it was broken off in the ignition (thank fuck it wasn't), and then denied again after I corrected them, stating that there was not enough evidence to decide fault.

Other than blowing up their phones, what can I do?

Tl;dr - velrt company (Towne park, based out of PA) broke my key while in their possession (TX) and they're denying any responsibility.
