Do I Have Any Civil Recourse?
Location: Eastern US
I retained an attorney for a pretty serious criminal matter. He wasn’t the sole attorney handling my case, but he represented me through the initial hearings.
After my case was settled and I was following through with my probation (interstate so monitored through the parole board) we began a romantic relationship.
The relationship ended due to alcohol use and erratic behavior on his part (I suspect some form of psychosis/family history of schizophrenia-type illnesses).
2 years ago, two women he kept relationships with accused me of being violent and slashing tires. One of the women was drunk and busted her tire. She wrote an email to my mom threatening to violate my parole. I was deferred adjudication on an organized crime charge so 15-life minimum sentencing if I screwed up.
This woman apologized for her behavior, but another woman continued with the narrative that I was violent and to stay away from her home, that she was reporting me. My house was subsequently raided by 6-8 officers in tactical gear with weapons drawn while my 3 year old was home.
2 years later, the state bar is conducting an investigation, and it’s looking like I was correct in my assumption that someone false reported me with ZERO factual evidence because it was all based on lies to make these women attack me.
What are my options to make this right? Will the state bar let me know the results of their investigation, as this is something they’re aware of? These women tried to ruin my life and have my child taken because of jealousy. They’re all 20-30 years older than me. I knew in my heart they played a part in that raid and now it seems like my suspicious were correct. Do I have any civil recourse? Thank you.
