Urgent: Need Legal Guidance: No Updates After Bail, No Chargesheet Info, Lawyer Unhelpful (delhi)

Hi everyone,

I need some legal guidance regarding my case in Delhi.

I was convicted in December 2024 and sent to Jail. I was granted bail after 21 days, on 18th January 2025, by the Delhi Court.

Since my bail, I have not received any updates from the court or from my lawyer. I kept asking my Investigating Officer (IO) about the chargesheet. Sometimes he said he hadn’t filed it yet, and sometimes he said it was ready but he didn’t have time to submit it.

Even my case lawyer would call me asking whether the IO has filed the chargesheet or not. I feel like he—my own lawyer—should be the one checking this, instead of asking me.

Now today, December 2025, I called my IO again. This time he told me that he submitted the chargesheet a couple of months back, and that I “must have received something from the court,” which I did not. When I asked about my next court date, he said it is in March 2026.

I’m confused about whether this information is accurate. How can I verify if the chargesheet has actually been filed and if my next court date is in March 2026?

Also, I want to change my lawyer, as the current one is extremely expensive and not helping at all.

Additional question: What happens if the chargesheet was filed 6–7 months after my bail? Does that affect anything?
