Should I Hire An Attorney For A Speeding Ticket Or Go To Court Myself?

Card image cap

I got a ticket going 68 in a 45 in a construction zone. It was totally my fault I just didn't see the signs and was listening to music instead of focusing. I went to call and pay it and the lady reminded me it would go on my record and also hit my insurance. If I go to the court date what are my chances of keeping it off my record to save my insurance? Also, on the phone the lady told me the ticket was $950 which seemed a bit excessive even if it was in a construction zone. Location: Arkansas.

I got a letter from an attorney and just out of curiosity I called to see what they would charge. the guy said the chance of a speeding ticket going to trial is almost zero. However, they will charge me $650 to represent me. This does include the cost of trial if it were to somehow happen. From everything I have read I don't think I really need it if I complete driving school and am prepared to pay the $950 fine. I mainly want to ask that it be kept off my record.
