Renting A House And After Moving In Everything Is Breaking

Location: South Carolina

I moved in on the 8th to a house and immediately noticed issues. A hole in one window, a crack in another. A leaking spigot outside. Broken TV. (Its furnished) A dirty loofa left in the shower. Moldy dishes in the dishwasher that doesnt seem to work. All the doorhandles on the doors fell off. Mold above one of the doors.

I told the landlord about it all via text and someone was out to fix things yesterday. Then today, i went to go make breakfast and the fridge is warm. It seems broken now.

So much has gone wrong. I dont know what to do. I told them about the fridge this morning around 10:30 am and no one has been around to fix it and no one is answering my questions about when.

The landlord said “Well my goodness gracious… I cannot imagine how everything was fine and then went to hell this week… I’m so sorry (my name) we’ve had no trouble with the refrigerator or the television in the past year and a half with this other guest. I will get a technician out there as soon as possible and I will reimburse you for the groceries that have spoiled.” And nothing after this.

Other staff, though, that he has have told me the previous tenant left the place a mess. So i dont know.

I start my new job on the 18th and i really dont have the money or means to find another place right now but im beyond frustrated at this point. I dont know what to do.

Do i have any options?
