Landlord Angry I Took Down A Flag

Card image cap

Location: Nevada

Hello, my landlord has recently hung a U.S. flag on the house I rent from him. I do not want this flag hung up as it partially obstructs a security camera I have installed, and I just don’t want any flags flown on the property. I asked him to take it down, citing the obstructed camera and the limited visibility making me feel less safe. He offered to move it but said he “can’t take it down.” There’s no realistic place to move it and not impact the camera, so I went ahead and took it down myself. My landlord is now mad and wants it hung back up.

My limited knowledge of the law would have me believe that I should be able to control what messages/symbols are being displayed on my house (this may be different since I am just a renter?).

Am I within my rights to take it down?

Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated, thank you!

Additional info that may or may not be relevant: - The flag was not installed when I signed the lease, nor is there any mention of putting it up in the lease (there was a broken bracket for a flag already installed when I moved in ~2.5 years ago, he just recently replaced it and hung the flag) - The camera is my personal camera that I installed on the outside of the house (he is aware of the camera, but I never received explicit permission from him to hang it - He has mentioned replacing the bracket/flag previously and I didn’t explicitly shut it down; however, I certainly did not say anything in support of it being put up
