Indianapolis Cops Just Let A 6'2 Guy Who Threw Hot Coffee At My Female Coworker Go. Said 'they Don't Have The Authority To Arrest Him' Because An Officer Wasn't Present At The Time Of The Assault, Even Though We Have Video Footage Of The Incident From 2 Angles.

I know it sounds stupid, because it is.

The assault occurred at roughly 11am today. It was captured on video from 2 different angles. The police were called, a report was made. The man who threw the coffee had escaped but the authorities were informed of the incident and shown the footage.

About 3 hours later, I see the guy from the footage in the bushes. I go outside and confirm that it is the exact man... 6'2, black, tan shirt and ripped jeans. I immediately call 911 and say "hey the guy who threw coffee at my coworker is back on the property please send the cops."

The cop arrives, a shorter redhead man with a beard. I'm waiting with my phone in hand with the two videos. He tells me to back off and approaches the guy. I'm giddy, thinking 'we got him'

I give the cop his space, but I overhear him telling the guy "a private citizen is asking you to leave..." I interjected, "no, we want to press charges. he's on video throwing scalding hot coffee on my coworker a few hours ago, the police were already here."

the cop shut me down and wouldn't let me speak. He insisted that he 'doesn't have the authority to make an arrest because an officer wasn't present at the time of the assault.'

obviously this is retarded. I tell him, "I have it on video, he's the guy, wearing the same outfit...' this cop is shouting me down. He's treating me like a criminal. I literally call 911 again as the criminal is walking away and said, "i need a supervisor... the cops are letting a guy go who threw coffee on my coworker. I have everything on video and the cops won't even listen to me."

a supervisor NEVER comes, but he calls back. He backs up his boys, says "it has to go through the prosecutors before we make an arrest"

what do I do?
