How Do I Get My Inheritance?

Card image cap

Location: Oklahoma, USA. No. 1, I'm a tribal citizen, every item was owned by a tribal citizen (my mom) house especially

Some minor context my mom passed away in April 2023, when I was 15, and passed down everything she owned to me and my two sisters (Oldest is 18, youngest 13) including the home which already had our names on it along with hers, a doublewide trailer in a park nearby my dad's own trailer. HOWEVER, the physical title was in the hands of my stepfather's parents, who said they had lost the title.

After the fact, I had moved in with my father for a time, since the only other person on the lease at the time was my stepdad, who passed away earlier this month due to a fentynyl O.D. Me and my sisters ALLOWED him to reside in the house so long as he paid the rent (He did Not) (I've only found that out due to this situation.)

This is what his dad had to say.

"Hey, A. if you're still interested in the house let me know I have several people wanting the house."

? Pardon my french dude but where the hell did I say you could sell My house?

I texted him back saying "Yes, I am still interested just haven't gotten the email of the rental application just yet"

He proceeded to say "Okay, the owners want to know if you can have the tribe pay off the 2,650$ backed rent."

"I have to talk to the tribe first, I haven't done so just yet."

"Okay."

There's the context.

Now, all I want, is to have my house, live in it, and not mess with anyone. What I'm getting on is my bullshit detectors are going off, I feel like there's something going on behind the scenes they're not saying because they think just because I'm young I'm stupid...

I just wanna know- Should I lawyer up? I mean, I've talked to my best friend and her mom about this who are very well versed in the legal system, and they both think I need to because now his parents are saying they cant give me a title without his death certificate... The park themselves seem totally fine with me wanting to lease, my dad supports it, I have no opposition aside from the "several people" who want my moms house.

My grandma also says that I need to lawyer up for all the same reasons, and because well, my mom was her kid..

Especially because my deadline is the 26th for this money but according to his dad the 22nd is a "good goal" ?? whatever that means.

I'm probably gonna call the tribe tomorrow anyways... Thanks for reading
