Got Attacked Again By A Dog At Shared Residence. Went To Hospital To Treat Infection For Multiple Bites. How Can I Proceed To Get Dog Owner To Pay For My Medical Bills?
Location: Ga. Hello again everyone, so last Monday night almost the next morning a pit bull I lived with has been getting progressively more aggressive towards me and chewed the doorknob of the room he was put in, opened the door and bum rushed me and bit me four times. This was the sixth time he has came at me and the third time he drew blood and did serious damage. My patience has finally crumbled and I took a trip to the hospital a day later when my hand started swelling with infection. I still have limited use of my main hand due to the bite on my wrist/hand. I want to proceed to have the owner of the dog to pay for my hospital bills. Honestly I want to take a path that doesn’t put the dog down despite how aggressive he is, because it’s not entirely his fault. Instead I’m hoping to just have the dog given a second chance through re training if it’s possible. How can I proceed in this way? Should I go through small claims or press for criminal charges to the owner?
