Ex Spouse May Have Accepted A Serve Meant For Me & Never Told Me

Location: Utah, US At this point, my inquiry is ancient history - but I'm curious now that I work in collections & understand better how all these things work.

In 2020, I got a phone call while I was in the bathtub for a legal hearing I had genuinely no idea was going to happen. I ended up getting garnished & didn't look back. My ex and I had been separated for about a year at that point, and I was actively paying off several debts she'd left me with. I figured it was just another balance to add to the pile, the judgement was paid in full, and i paid off everything else within two years of our separation.

Looking back, now in the collections industry, i realized: i wasn't ever served. In fact, I wasn't even on the lease where I was staying. I was leaving an abusive marriage, so no one knew where I was living but my parents.

I cant prove it, but I think my ex may have accepted my serve and never told me. Is that illegal? I know I can't do anything about it, I'm just curious at this point.
