Driver Accused Me Of Hitting His Car And Fleeing The Scene And Tailgating With No Proof.

Location: Newark, Delaware.

This happened back in June but basically for whatever reason I pissed of this driver. I could see him weaving in and out behind me and then he cuts in front of me and slams on his brakes to stop at a traffic light in front of me. I nearly hit him but I know for a fact that I didn’t.

He steps out to check if I hit him he could see that I didn’t he proceeds to give me a dirty look and enters back into his vehicle. The light turned green and he floored it to the next red light. Now and this was stupid of me as I was making my right turn at that next light I flipped him off. He then proceeded to follow me driving aggressively for a few miles until I made a sharp turn and lost him.

When I got home the police were waiting for me telling me the driver reported me for hitting his car (driver has no proof of this). The police inspected my car saw there was no damage and issued me a uniform complaint and summons with two violations: 1- leaving the scene of a accident 2-following too close to another moving vehicle. The driver has no proof of any these claims but I have no counter evidence other than a video I took of my car the same day showing there was no damage on on my car.

Im scheduled to appear at the end of October. Whats the best course of action? Im a college student so I don’t really have a lot of spare money to spend on a lawyer.
