Dentist Drilled Almost All Of My Adult Teeth When I Was 14
When I was 14/15 about 12 years ago I went to western dental for a tooth where my filling had fell out. I didn’t go with my parents but another relative because I didn’t have a ride to the dental office. They began giving me X-rays, and then finally sent me to the dental room where I would meet with the dentist, at this point they told me my relative wasn’t allowed to go back with me. I thought this was normal so I didn’t think much of it. Next I meet the dentist, he asked me if I can come back another time, against my gut, I said is there anyway we can do this another day and not today? I don’t have a ride to the dentist and I’m missing a filling…. (As an adult I now think who negotiates with a 14 year old on this?) and so he began numbing all of my mouth. I thought it was normal I trusted this dentist knew what they were doing. He began drilling into almost every single tooth except for my flat front ones. I left with a mouth full of amalgam fillings. I cried I felt stressed I didn’t expect this and I was too quiet and afraid to speak up and ask questions. In the end he took photos of my mouth I assume to send to my insurance (California dent-I-cal). My family was upset but it was my fault because I didn’t speak up. I didn’t have any issues with my other teeth besides the one missing a filling. Ever since I’ve had constant issues with my teeth and a lot of trauma that I actually fear dentist and avoid it because I have trouble trusting. Is there anything I can do or is it too late since it’s been 12 years. It’s always bothered me so much. This happend at a western dental in location: California
