Took Out Half Of Paycheck For Uniform Agreement
Location: Indiana
My husband got let go from a auto shop last week. His last day was this past Saturday.
He was checking his paystub for this last pay period as he gets paid Friday.
He was charged for $500 out of his paycheck for his uniform agreement, even though he left everything at the shop. He let his GM know he left everything.
My husband swears he does NOT have anything in his car and there definitely not anything in the house.
In his uniform agreement, he gets 2 jackets, 11 shirts, and 11 pants. If any are missing, they will withhold any items until verified are returned. Jackets are $100 each, Shirts and pants are $50 each. If an employee was not with company for 90 days there is a $150 restocking fee. My husband e-signed this document.
My husband is LIVID and is going to talk to his old GM tomorrow morning. They could easily say "we don't have it" and that's that. We probably won't get the full 500 back due to the restocking fee since he was only there a few weeks.
Is there anything we could do?
