Cps Case Opened In State Where Abuse Occurred, But My Child And I Are Taking Refuge In Another State

Location: Indiana/Michigan I fled from a domestic abuse situation a week ago. My family involved (myself, the other parent, my child) have all been Indiana residents all of our lives. 2 months ago we moved to Michigan, and now I am back in Indiana with my son and being housed by my mother. Yesterday I had a phone call with a mandated reporter in Michigan and explained the abuse towards my son that happened in Michigan, and they made the call to CPS in Michigan. The allegations are against the other parent who is still in Michigan. I have explained that what I have reported is a second wave of abuse and there was a first wave that happened in Indiana last year fall/winter last year. I have not gotten the opportunity to talk about that first wave with anyone yet. What am I to expect once the other parent is approached with allegations? I was reccomended to seek legal help by the case worker in Michigan for someone in my area, but everyone I have spoken to saying this is a legal matter in Michigan and I need to find help in Michigan. I don't know what to do because I am not located in Michigan anymore, and I do not have a safe place in Michigan for my son because we all live in the same apartment. What legal help do I need to find to protect my son during this case? What state does this help need to occur?
