[fl] Property Manager Unlocked And Attempted To Enter My Apartment.

Card image cap

Location: Florida

Hello, my building has been doing construction on balcony’s and the property management company (not my landlord) put a notice up saying they would have to enter everyone’s residence to finish the screens on the balcony. This was put up with around 1 week notice.

My landlord reached out to let me know and confirm that I would be home to open the door. I confirmed (have text messages to prove it)

The morning of I was woken to noise at my front door and my door being unlocked and opened. I jumped out of bed yelling at them trying to find out what was happening and why they would unlock my door and attempt to enter my property.

I cannot recall if they knocked and if so it was a quick knock followed by immediately opening the door.

I do not know if they had stepped foot into my home but when i got pants on and went to my living room the door was open with 4 people standing outside. The lady from the property management company said that someone told them we wouldn’t be home. I have no idea who would have told them that.

My ESA (a cat who scares pretty easily) was frightened and hid under the bed most of the day.

My wife who has previous trauma from a no knock police raid (won a lawsuit against the city because of this a few years ago) when she was a child was in shock and furious.

This happened nearly 1 month ago now.

My neighbor has a ring camera pointed directly at my door but I haven’t asked for the footage nor do I know if it’s available.

I did attempt to call an attorney today but they weren’t too helpful and said I needed a “7 day notice of non compliance”
