The Joule, one of downtown Dallas’ most iconic hotels, has entered a new era with the unveiling of its fully redesigned West Tower guestrooms. The transformation was led by award-winning design firm Tihany Design, which also created the property’s original interiors when the hotel first opened in 2008.

This latest milestone follows earlier enhancements to the ballroom level and the expansion of The Joule’s award-winning spa, which added a facial bar and expanded retail space. Together, these initiatives mark the hotel’s third creative chapter with Tihany Design, now under the direction of principal Alessia Genova, who took ownership of the firm in 2024.

The redesign spans 126 rooms across 14 floors and introduces a more serene palette of neutrals, sage, and navy, complemented by European walnut paneling, velvet furnishings, and geometric carpets. The new aesthetic softens the darker tones of previous interiors, replacing them with textures and colors that evoke both residential comfort and refined luxury.

Custom furniture pieces – including sculptural swivel chairs, redesigned étagères, and integrated vanities – reinforce a modern yet welcoming atmosphere. Black-and-white photographic diptychs by Bram Tihany add depth, contrast, and a sense of narrative to the guestrooms, while curated photography of Dallas architecture enhances the corridors.

Honoring The Joule’s creative legacy

“As we unveil these refreshed rooms, we’re excited to welcome guests into The Joule’s next era, one that continues to evolve while honoring the property’s design-forward spirit,” says Ginger Martin, Managing Director at The Joule. “Tim Headington’s ongoing investment in the property is a testament to his dedication to downtown Dallas and its position as a cultural and creative hub, with The Joule at the epicenter.”

Future projects will include the lobby, the West Tower Penthouse, as well as a renovation for CBD Provisions, the Texas brasserie which opened in 2012; the restaurant is slated to reopen early 2026.

The refresh is part of a multi-million dollar investment by hotel owner Tim Headington, reinforcing The Joule’s role in downtown Dallas as a cultural and creative hub. Upcoming projects will include renovations of the lobby, the West Tower Penthouse, and CBD Provisions, the hotel’s Texas brasserie, slated to reopen in early 2026.

Beyond physical upgrades, The Joule has reimagined the guest experience, introducing Byredo bath amenities, optional in-room wellness treatments, and curated programming such as Yoga at The Eye and Gua Sha masterclasses at The Spa.

The renovations underscore The Joule’s ambition to remain not only a hospitality landmark but also an urban retreat blending luxury, art, and wellbeing in the heart of Dallas.
