Katowice Airport Posts Record Passenger Traffic In August 2025

Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport achieved its best month on record in August 2025, according to figures released by the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL S.A.), the airport’s operator.
The airport handled 978,903 passengers, representing a 13% increase year-on-year and surpassing the previous monthly record of 959,177 passengers set in July 2025.
Growth across regular and charter flights
Traffic growth was evident across both scheduled and charter services. Regular flights carried 372,241 passengers, up 14.2% compared to August 2024, with services operated by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines, and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa. Charter operations handled 604,220 passengers, up 12.4% year-on-year, reflecting strong demand for holiday travel.
Aircraft movements also increased, with 6,592 takeoffs and landings in August, a 13.7% rise compared to the same month last year.
Airport management reported that the summer holiday season has been the strongest in the airport’s history. Between July and August 2025, nearly 1.94 million passengers were served, of which 1.2 million traveled on charter flights.

“We have achieved the best calendar summer ever at Katowice Airport. During two summer holiday months, we handled nearly 1.94M passengers, 1.2M of which traveled on charter flights. The summer season is not over yet, and traffic in September is still very high. We expect to handle approx. 880K passengers this month,” said Artur Tomasik, the President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, the company managing Katowice Airport.
Year-to-date results
From January to August 2025, Katowice Airport served nearly 4.95 million passengers, up 14.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Regular traffic accounted for 2.31 million passengers (+11%), while charter traffic reached 2.61 million (+17%). Total aircraft movements for the first eight months of 2025 stood at 36,346, an 11% increase over last year.
Katowice Airport handled 6.39 million passengers in 2024 and is forecast to reach 7 million passengers in 2025, the highest figure in its history. The airport remains Poland’s leader in charter traffic and is among the country’s largest regional airports and cargo hubs.
