A new report by Tradingplatforms highlights the most expensive Airbnb listings worldwide for the period 14–17 January 2026, covering 86 countries with the highest number of inbound visitors. The analysis provides insights into where luxury short-term rental demand is concentrated and what types of properties command the highest nightly rates.

Researchers compiled prices including taxes and fees, while excluding listings deemed unrealistic or inauthentic. Each entry included details on accommodation type, total cost, capacity, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, guest reviews, and premium amenities, allowing for a fair comparison across markets.

The results show that the most exclusive properties span multiple continents, with Europe leading in representation. Seven of the 20 most expensive Airbnbs are in Europe, though only one is in the top five. The most expensive globally is in Italy, followed by Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.

  • Listings also feature in Asia (UAE, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia), North America (Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, USA), Africa (Morocco, Egypt), South America (Chile), and Oceania (Australia).
  • Many of the most expensive rentals are in established destinations such as Dubai, Lake Garda, Montecito (California), and Marrakesh.
  • Prices reflect both exclusivity and demand: for example, a three-night stay in Lake Garda totals 155,763 euros, while Punta de Mita in Mexico costs 82,421 euros.
  • Larger groups are a key market segment, with properties offering from 4 to 36 bedrooms and extensive shared spaces.
  • Regional disparities remain: while Dubai and California achieve premium rates, destinations like Tanzania and Chile provide more affordable luxury stays.

For the travel trade, the report underlines the continued growth of the luxury short-term rental sector. High-net-worth travellers are increasingly drawn to exclusive, private stays that combine space, amenities, and location, often favouring properties designed for families and groups.
