AmaWaterways, the cruise line dedicated exclusively to river cruising, has announced plans to significantly expand its European fleet with the addition of eight new ships by 2030. Once delivered, the company’s global fleet will exceed 40 vessels – doubling its size since 2020.

The expansion reflects the strong and sustained demand for river cruising, particularly for immersive, high-touch experiences along Europe’s iconic waterways.

“Our expanding fleet is a direct response to the strong demand from guests eager to discover river cruising and Europe’s beautiful rivers,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways. “These new ships represent exciting opportunities for our valued travel partners and us to grow together. With each new ship, we will continue to sail our guests to the heart of every destination while delivering the high-touch service, elegant design, and immersive experiences that define AmaWaterways.”

High-touch experiences on Europe’s rivers

AmaWaterways has built a strong reputation for curated itineraries and diverse shore excursions. Guests can choose from up to seven included excursions per day, ranging from guided cultural tours and scenic cycling trips to vineyard tastings and unique local experiences such as truffle hunting in southern France.

Onboard, the brand combines award-winning cuisine with wellness-focused programming, led by dedicated Wellness Hosts offering daily fitness and relaxation classes. Ships are equipped with pools, spas, walking tracks, and spaces for evening cultural performances, while suites provide enhanced comfort, including butler service in select categories.
