Pilates equipment is having a breakout moment and iFIT is all in

iFIT is making a move into connected Pilates with the acquisition of Reform RX, a high-end reformer brand known for its commercial and at-home equipment modeled after a Formula 1 race car.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Last September, Reform RX secured $5.1 million in funding led by Clarendon Fund Managers in a landmark deal and the largest initial investment the firm has made in a single Northern Ireland company.

Alongside the addition of Reform RX to its lineup, iFIT plans to expand its platform with Pilates-based programming led by certified instructors. Details on product availability and future Pilates offerings are expected in the coming months.

“Pilates has become a cornerstone of modern fitness, offering low-impact, core-focused movement that supports strength, flexibility and balance,” iFIT CEO Kevin Duffy said. “With the addition of Reform RX, we’re empowering our athletes with even more ways to move — whether they’re building out a studio or working out at home.”

That versatility has also made Reform RX a prominent player in luxury wellness spaces, with the brand forging partnerships with several high-end hotels, including Mandarin Oriental, The Savoy and One Crown Place, The Ned and Casa Cipriani.

Reform RX’s flagship connected reformer is outfitted with a 21.5-inch HD touchscreen and comes preloaded with more than 150 on-demand workouts. A smart spine equipped with laser sensors tracks movement to the thousandth of a second, delivering real-time feedback on power output, calorie burn and heart rate. The reformer also swaps out traditional springs for a push-button resistance system and includes a built-in Pilates chair that slides out for expanded functionality.

“This partnership marks a new era, not just for Reform RX, but for the evolution of Pilates itself,” Reform RX founder and functional movement specialist and Pilates expert Yvie McGaffin said. “We’ve reimagined what’s possible when technology meets intention, creating experiences that deepen the mind-body connection and empower people to move with purpose. Together with iFIT, we’re shaping a future where movement becomes more intelligent, more intuitive, and profoundly transformative, supporting clients not just in fitness, but in lifelong health and well-being.”

The deal follows a surge in boutique Pilates franchises over the past two years, with 2025 shaping up to be the year of the reformer and a broader push into Pilates equipment. In recent months, Italian fitness equipment and health ecosystem leader Technogym announced its launching an eco-friendly Reformer while Skelcore, a Miami-based fitness and wellness company, has introduced a folding Pilates reformer for gyms, hotels and multi-use fitness spaces. Meanwhile, budget-friendly grocer Aldi is rolling out its own Reformer for under £150 ($199) on May 25 in the United Kingdom.
