Caitlin Clark's Real Feelings On Espn's Rebecca Lobo Emerge

Indiana Fever guard and 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark is one of the most polarizing athletes in all of sports.
However, despite being the new face of the WNBA, the discourse surrounding her throughout her first season last year was all over the place. There were debates in the media over whether or not players were jealous of her, if the officials were swallowing the whistle and whether or not she was snubbed from the 2024 Paris Olympics team for the United States.
Opinions on her across the media may vary, but Clark has seemingly been cordial with everyone she has encountered. However, in a recent appearance on "Fieldhouse Files," ESPN play-by-play announcer Ryan Ruocco provided insight on Clark's relationship with him, Holly Rowe and WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo.
"Caitlin (Clark) and I have a great relationship," Ruocco said. "I think we built that covering her in college. You know? And then I think Caitlin knows that Rebecca (Lobo), Holly (Rowe) and I have really taken great care to try and tell her story accurately and build her up to our audience as the great star that she is.
"She knows how passionate we are about what we do," Ruocco said. "And how serious we are about it. We built a relationship with her, covering her at Iowa. Covering a lot of really meaningful games with her, having a lot of conversations with her at shoot arounds and practices and afterwards when we get time with her. I think she trusts us and as a result has a reference for our crew and me and her have developed a great relationship."
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) looks on with head coach Stephanie White.Jeffrey Becker-Imagn ImagesRuocco did reveal that Clark will text him during college games he's calling, to provide her take on what she is seeing.
Ruocco also shared a story about how Clark gave him and Lobo a "smile" after she hit a three from the logo during the Fever's preseason game against the Brazilian National Team last weekend.
With 41 of the Fever's 44 regular-season games set to be on national television this season, there will likely be plenty more moments between Clark and ESPN's top broadcast crew. She and the Fever wrap up preseason play on Saturday against the Atlanta Dream.
