Bulls Front Office Urged To Pursue Trade For Generational Superstar

Are the Bulls ready to be competitive? Despite being one of the country's most prosperous sports markets, the front office runs the organization like a small business operating around the margins. The team has paid the luxury tax just once and seems content with putting a product on the floor decent enough to sell tickets, refusing to pick a clear direction for the future.

With the current lottery odds, relying on ping pong balls is no longer a viable method for rapid roster reconstruction. But what if Chicago went the other way? With Jayson Tatum's recent Achilles tear, an already vulnerable Eastern Conference has lost even more high-end talent. It's hard to blame fans who are urging the Bulls to finally make a move and take a swing at landing a franchise superstar.

Reports have surfaced in recent days that Giannis Antetokounmpo is open to a future outside of Milwaukee, which is the most PR-crafted way of suggesting that the "Greek Freak" wants to request a trade. The 30-year-old would likely prioritize playing in a global city, and Chicago, now more than ever, fits the bill.

It goes without saying that this potentially mega deal has almost no chance of happening. Giannis wants to play with another All-NBA caliber player, meaning this incompetent club would have to manage luring a pair of studs to the "Windy City." Not to mention, the two teams have a soft rivalry as Central Division foes.

Just because Giannis is almost certainly off the table doesn't mean Arturas Karnisovas and Mark Eversley shouldn't be aggressive. There will be plenty of top names available this summer, and just getting high-quality assets in the building should be the primary focus.
