Avoid Tariffs And Delays: How Beaverfit Keeps Gyms Growing

Whether it’s dodging tariffs or the issues that come with shipping overseas, BeaverFit helps U.S. fitness brands grow without any resistance
BeaverFit, a leader in fitness equipment design, manufacturing and distribution, knows that home is where the heart — and savings are.
After the Trump administration levied new tariffs on foreign trade near the end of Q1 2025, it put international fitness equipment distributors at a disadvantage. The same can be said of any partnering domestic brand with ambitious franchising plans. Scaling already is a challenge in its own right — and when the tools required to do so start coming at an increased price, it becomes even more daunting.
But while these new policies, whether in a pause period or not, threaten to stunt fitness business growth, the Nevada-based BeaverFit is positioned to fuel it.
“While many companies are facing uncertainty due to shifting tariffs and overseas dependencies, our supply chain remains rooted here at home,” said Nick Vay, BeaverFit VP of Commercial Sales. “We made the deliberate choice over a decade ago to not rely on foreign manufacturing or steel imports. That decision wasn’t made for moments like this — but it’s in moments like this that it proves its value.”

While supplying clients, BeaverFit prioritizes ability and availability. Regarding the former, the brand stands out with its in-house engineering, product and manufacturing capabilities, which allow BeaverFit to craft customized products for partners to meet pinpoint demands.
“We lean into our custom manufacturing capabilities and our ability to meet the design requirements of our partners, rather than trying to sell them something they may not be looking for, or that may only meet some of their needs,” said Vay.
The way “availability” gets accomplished is a bit more cut and dry. Since everything BeaverFit provides is made and sourced in the U.S., there’s no need for partners to worry about the global supply chain issues that often impact other manufacturers. BeaverFit’s vertically integrated system cuts down lead times, increases quality control and permits the brand to stay nimble.

Set Up Before COVID
Although the legislation boosting the value of domestic manufacturing is new, BeaverFit — a defense contractor who has supplied the U.S. military with American-made fitness equipment since 2014 — is no stranger to it. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, unpredictable global shipping logistics threatened the industry and led to a variety of issues for franchisors. But BeaverFit already had the power of domestic manufacturing in its pocket and positioned itself for success.
“That was a hectic time for all manufacturers, including us,” Vay recalled. “Thankfully – because of our deeply-rooted relationships with American steel mills and suppliers – as other manufacturers were scrambling to explore domestic options, we already had the relationships in place to ensure we continued to be at the front of the line. This allowed us to continue to deliver quality products on time while others were dealing with manufacturing delays, port delays, freight delays and other issues. Our fully integrated supply chain set us up to continue to exceed expectations.”
Rumble Boxing, a fitness brand that mixes elements of boxing and strength training together in a group setting, was one of many brands BeaverFit assisted during this period.
“Rumble Boxing had just been acquired and were looking to scale quickly, but didn’t have access to any of the products they needed to open doors,” said Vay. “We quickly designed, prototyped and ultimately delivered custom benches, shadow weights, dumbbells and boxing rigs in less than 60 days to not only meet, but exceed their timeline.”

“They needed a partner who could both design exactly what they needed and deliver,” said Vay. “Once we connected, we went through a rapid design and prototyping process to deliver on time and provide the exact functionality and aesthetics they were looking for.”
Beyond Just a Timely Benefit
But even with all the aforementioned benefits, there’s more to BeaverFit’s system than simply capitalizing on new foreign policy. There’s a reason the brand has operated in this fashion for years, long before the new tariffs were administered, and will continue to do so even if they are revoked.
“We feel strongly that domestic manufacturing not only delivers a high quality product and timely supply, but also it’s the right way – and the only way – to serve those who serve others,” said Vay. “We have a commitment to our military partners to never be anything but American-made, and we hold that same commitment to our commercial partners. From our designers and fabricators in Reno, Nevada, to veteran-led teams delivering solutions across the country, every step of our process is grounded in American craftsmanship and purpose.”
For these reasons, the brand is eager to continue helping franchising brands grow in the years to come.
“At BeaverFit, scaling isn’t just about building more – it’s about building smarter,” says Vay. “In addition to our core promise, which is to deliver high-quality, highly-customizable and durable equipment, we feel confident that our commitment to American manufacturing will lessen the impact of potential challenges ahead and position us to continue supporting those with a mission that matters with the unique training environments they need to win.
“‘Made in the USA’ isn’t just a label,” he added. “It’s a commitment to our customers that we won’t compromise when it comes to the quality of our products.”
