What Sort Of Legal Rectification Can I Receive As A Renter For Finding Human Bones In My Backyard And A Massive Sinkhole In My Front Yard?

Location: New Orleans Louisiana

Hi all, I am based in New Orleans and I have been living in this house for nearly a year. The owner of our house lives out of state and our property is managed by a rental management company. First I need to ask about the sinkhole. When we moved in for the first couple months our utilities were in our landlords name until it was switched without our consultation. The property manager told me he would sign me up for the sewage and water board for me using my social security I used to apply for the lease. He said "the first month might be a little expensive". What he neglected to mention is that there was a burst pipe beneath our house leaking 90,000 gallons a months. This continued for months until a sink hole opened beneath our parking spots and contractors were called to replace the pipe. This leak ran up $10,000 in sewage and waterboard fees on an account that I did not sign up for and only was able to see the fees after we had been leaking water for months. The landlord softly mentioned a little bit of a leak when we initially toured the house but I would say 90,000 gallons a month is more than a bit of a leak.

Now for the human remains. About 2 months ago now I noticed my dog showed interest in a specific part of our yard. I had been having a lot of dreams about digging so I did and I found initially 10 human bones. Ribs, heel bones, toes, all sliced by a chop saw into 7 inch or less pieces. Something very bad happened, because even if these were dog bones it seems psychotic to chop fido into 7 inch pieces with a saw following his demise. I found 10 the first time I dug, I called NOPD, they brought CSI to come take the bones for analysis, they left with the bones and told me they would follow up with me shortly. I told them there had to be more bones and they told me I probably shouldn't dig anymore. I waited patiently for a month for a word back and heard nothing. The dreams of digging continued. I dedicated my day off with my neighbor who is a nurse to dig bones once again and found 7 more bones. I have 7 human bones in my possession that I am waiting to hear back from the police but it's all starting to weigh on me and I am ready to not be involved with a homicide investigation. I am feeling a sense of urgency to see resolution to this situation. It's become pretty clear that my landlord is losing money on this property, for a while he was attempting to sell the house, with no luck given we had a sinkhole in the yard. I am concerned about him attempting to raise the price of rent. I am wondering if there is anything I can do legally as far as the burst pipe/lack of disclosure as well as the emotional distress finding human remains has caused my roommates and I.
