Someone Using My Business Address To Mail Drugs

I found a package at my front door of my business on Saturday. It appeared to be sent to Italy, and returned but nothing that was stamped on the package I understood. I put the package in our outgoing mail table for my staff who does our shipping. It clearly showed my business and address as the SENDER.

This morning I found it still on the table and asked my staff about it. He flatly and quickly replied “I didn’t send that, it’s not the packaging we use”. Neither of us recognized the Recipient name. We mail out maybe 2 packages a week and it’s always to our usual customers of 4+ years.

I scanned the label and it clearly showed our business name, address and phone number. The customs label showed “…. Action Figure”. We often sell people’s collectibles so I thought … okay maybe it was for us and whoever sent it flipped the label, or whatever. So I proceeded to open it.

It was layered and packaged very tight. By instinct, on maybe was the final layer - I snipped the corner with scissors. Clearly was marijuana and strong smell of it. I did not open the rest. I immediately called our local police dept who came within 15 min. She took pictures of our shipping log, the packaging area to see what type of materials we used, and took pictures of our website.

Now I’m sitting here absolutely paranoid that someone is using my business to mail drugs (obviously). I emailed DEA as well (no phone was being answered and very hard to reach anyone).

Should I be doing something else to cover all bases to ensure I’m clear on being totally unaware or involved with this??
