Someone Put My Name And Phone Number As A Prospect For Healthcare

Someone (and I have an idea who) put my name and phone number in some database claiming that I’m in the market for health insurance. Therefore, I’m getting absolutely BOMBARDED with sales calls (103 in the last 24 hours) and a handful of texts. I suspect it was an old friend I had a falling-out with in the past few months given the fact that I once mentioned the idea of doing this exact thing to an old terrible boss I had, but was advised by a cop friend of mine not to do that since if it got traced back to me somehow I would be in trouble. The sales people that told me what info of mine they had listed random birth dates that weren’t mine, some texts had my name spelled right and others spelled a slightly different way, but the biggest thing is that a couple had different addresses listed and they were all locations of a fast food place I used to eat at often, which was kind of a running joke in our friend group.

Anyway, my question is how can I get proof of who did this, what crime(s) are they committing, and how to take legal action in this case? I contacted local PD and spoke to an officer who told me they would do some research and get back to me.
