Someone Broke My Cars & Garage Door, Police Arrested Me At Gunpoint In My Room, Sat Me In Handcuffs In A Squad Car - Even After I Verified I Was The Homeowner. Am I Able To Litigate?

My brother has a friend we'll call "asshole" who is mentally ill and aggressive when drunk. Last night they were being drunk idiots together & I heard screaming and loud sounds. Come out and my brother is gone and shit is thrown all over our garage. Asshole is screaming a specific racial epithet while smashing the windows of my car out. I was calm and told him to just leave or I'll call the cops and he said some nonsense and I said "Dude, the neighbors have most likely already called 911, I will too if you don't leave. Fuck off." He got in his car and left. He also rammed his car into my garage door and it doesn't work. Oh and put an axe in it too.

I didn't want to call 911 because I have school shit & wanted to sleep - big mistake. Cops kicked down some doors, knocked on and announced their presence at mine, I come out to three cops with fucking guns pointed at me, one of them five feet away. They tell me to put my hands up and walk slow backwards and cuff me on the ground in underwear. I keep asking what I did, what I was being detained for and they didn't tell me. I asked what crime I was being suspected of committing and nothing.

They later said they got the call & since the front door was broken they suspected a burglary, but I told them I live here and I could show them my ID and pictures on the fridge to prove I'm the homeowner. After verifying that, they asked what happened, I said I wouldn't talk without a lawyer as I thought since they no longer suspected me of burglary as I was the homeowner I could go back to my room, but they walked me in handcuffs to the squad car, despite me saying okay if you're gonna do all that I'll just tell you (at this point I was really scared).

I'm not sure if asking for an attorney means they can no longer question you (or if that's only in interrogations), but once I realized they weren't going to let me go back to my room, I begged them literally please and they kept saying no, that they had to "find out what's going on first" - without testimony from the one witness.

And of course they eventually DID ask me and I did tell them everything bc fuck it if I'm gonna have guns pointed at me all over my friend I tried to protect by not calling 911, I'm snitching, I don't care. I don't understand why they wouldn't let me give a statement at first, but then after...? They said they had to rule out that there was nothing like a trapped girl somewhere which I totally get. Still though - I was the victim in this situation and had all this shit happen to me. In my own house, in my own room. Didn't let me put clothes or shoes on & walked through broken glass.

So I guess what I'm asking if the law was violated in any way here in a way I can seek legal recourse. I know these things might just happen but it's still fucked up & I'm honestly traumatized by it. And, also, what I can do about this guy. They said I could get a TRO but I want a PFA. I also want to know if it would have been legal for me to use physical violence in that situation, with him breaking my car. Because if it happens again... I'm out of patience.

Thanks
