Should I Report The Clinic I Work At? If So, How Do I Go About It?

Location: Texas

I work at a small maternity clinic in my area as a certified clinical medical assistant. I've only been working here for about a month and I've noticed some shady things going on.

First off, the general hygiene practices of the clinic have always been disgusting. I get told to reuse gloves if they're not stained, bedsheets get reused for patients without cleaning, the sterile field is never treated properly, and a few other things. Maybe I'm being a bit picky about these things, but they just feel wrong.

One of the biggest things that concerns me though is what's happening to the placentas. Whenever there's a labor, we store the placentas in a freezer. There are MONTHS worth of placentas just sitting in that freezer. I've read the paperwork and reports for the labors and they all say that the placentas were, or will be, picked up by a medical waste company. They were not.

I don't really know what to do. I assumed everything was legal since the clinic has been open for many years, but as I talked to a friend about how the clinic works, she said that most of the things we do sound illegal. She used to work at a hospital and sounded surprised when I said we only keep patients for around 4 hours after they give birth.

Anyways, I'm not really sure if this is anything I can report or if it's just a clinic being gross and weird. Any help is appreciated!!
