Professional Cleaning Vs Self Cleaning, How Much Trouble Could I Get Into?

Card image cap

  • Moving out of rental house (after 12 months), meticulously cleaned it for 4 days (always received full deposit back)
  • Property management sends email to provide professional cleaning invoices, realize lease has an amendment stating "home should be professionally cleaned prior to lease end"
  • Cleaning company says they will invoice us for a full move out clean, but will only charge a "routine clean" fee since the property is already so clean.
  • They come, do the routine clean, invoice me for "move out clean" (with higher price to provide PM - which lists "cash" as payment) and only charged my credit card for the basic clean price.
  • Cleaning co says if PM has questions, to have them call and they will confirm a "move out cleaning" service.

Thought is, if PM inspects home, determines more cleaning needed, I'll pay more to have it performed.

Concern is: Could this be fraud and turn into a massive legal issue because we saved a few hundred dollars and didn't pay to reclean everything just to say we did. To confirm, paid $700 for house cleaning and carpet shampooing. Just didn't pay full $1,000 for "move out cleaning" which includes things like baseboard wiping because these things were already done by us.

How much potential trouble could I get myself into here?
