Possible Medical Malpractice?

Location: Louisiana

In February 2025 me and fiancé had a child together he was 7lbs she didn’t feel comfortable breast feeding so we used formula, the hospital provided us with some type of similac he would spit up a lot, they switched to a sensitive version of it still had spit up but not as much. He was still gaining weight but seemed like he wouldn’t hold anything down. Over the course of the next 2 months we changed formulas 4-5 times till we found one that worked that he didn’t spit up on. But he began having respiratory issues around 2 weeks we pointed out to his pediatrician and she said it was probably allergies but that we would just watch it with his check ups, one night we even took him to the emergency room they said the same thing that it was allergies. Followed up with his Dr and she said to give him an over the counter breathing spray treatment, it wasn’t even a regular breathing treatment with a nebulizer. Made multiple appointments as it got worse with the pediatrician she still said it was only allergies. I work for the local sheriff’s dept and I just got home at about 5:30am from an over night shift on April 15th 3 days after we moved into a new house. Went to sleep about 6am and then 8:30 am my fiancé woke me up telling me our 2 month old son wasn’t breathing I immediately flipped him over patted his back to check his air way some brown and reddish liquid came out then I put him on his back and began cpr ( I took my first cpr class in Boy Scouts and have been trained in cpr almost every year since 2018) I told her to call 911 while I was doing cpr and it took almost 20 minutes for the ambulance to arrive and the first deputy on scene arrived around 15 minutes into the 911 call and shortly after took over cpr. We have yet to receive an official autopsy report but was told that the preliminary report showed signs of a lung infection. A few people have told us to sue and we aren’t big on the idea of suing but we repeatedly told the dr it wasn’t allergies, she wouldn’t listen. We still have funeral costs to cover, not including the cost of a headstone. Our insurance covers therapy which we went to a grief session of but still unsure if we should talk to an attorney about a possible malpractice case. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. I tried to include as many details as I could remember and think of but I rushed through writing this because I’ve lived that day a million times in my head questioning everything over and over again.
