Please Help: U.s. Navy Father Refuses Child Support

Card image cap

Hi everyone. I’m a single mother currently living abroad with my young daughter. Her father is an active-duty member of the U.S. military. He was stationed in Japan when we met, but has since been transferred overseas.

He acknowledged our daughter early on and sent a small amount of money once, but has since cut off all contact. He refuses to take a DNA test and won’t provide any financial support. I have messages, photos, and other proof of our relationship and his involvement.

I’ve already submitted a child support application to the U.S. state where he enlisted and also sent documentation to his military branch. I’m still waiting for any response.

Has anyone here ever successfully received child support from a U.S. military member while living outside the U.S.?
Was a DNA test required?
Are there any organizations or lawyers who helped you?

I’m emotionally and financially exhausted, and just want to make sure my child receives the support she deserves.
Any advice, experience, or encouragement would mean a lot. Thank you. Location: Japan (originally from Brazil, father is in the U.S. Navy, currently stationed in Bahrain)
