Parents Might Be Filing A Police Report On My Friend.

To preface, I am a 25 M living in Kissimmee Florida. My friend is a 27 M living in Puerto Rico (he lived in Florida before)
To start off, back in February my friend asked me to help him get a new id via him ordering it and having it sent to my house and then I forward the ID to him, as far as I’m aware this is not illegal. My stepfather received a letter from our insurance company stating that they believe that my friend might be living at our house, and after doing some research, all we need to do is send them a simple document that proves he doesn’t live at my house and it was just used to be sent to him, and everything will clear up. However now my stepfather has gone full nuclear and believes that his rates are going to skyrocket due to them thinking that my friend lives here. He has not threatened to file a police report and say he illegally used our address (even though he didn’t) just to get out of the premium.
What is the solution here? What steps can I take to solve this and is there anything I might have done wrong? Thank you.
