Parent I Live With Is Selling Drugs

Location: Kansas City, MO

I’m an adult who was invited by my dad to live with him to help him out with every day tasks in return of getting to stay rent free. I didn’t realize until moving in from states away that he sold weed (no biggie), pills, and crystal meth. He also smokes the crystal meth and has left his stash around the house along with the pipes he smokes it out of for me to stumble upon. My grandpa owns the house and I keep him informed of all the people coming and going and the drug shit going on. He wants my dad to get his shit together, which he of course never will, so lately I’ve been stuck here with drug addicts showing up every day and my dad who smokes meth and cigarettes in the house.

I’m fed up and my question is, if I’m the one to call the cops on my dad for possession of crystal meth, and I have nothing to do with it, can I get in trouble too? And he’s behind on bill payments. If he was taken to prison, how could I take over paying his bills?

This might sound like a dumb or obvious question, but I’m not familiar with situations like this and I have a partner and two animals here with me. We don’t want to risk getting in trouble for something we take no part in and initially knew nothing about. We also can’t move out due to financial reasons but are super uncomfortable living where drugs like that are involved and his long time friend (who smokes meth with my dad) & friends wife keep coming back despite previously threatening us with violence for the dumbest reasons.
