North Carolina - Landlord Won't Get Very Tall Trees Inspected That Surround The House I Rent. Just Cancelled The Maintenance Request. If A Tree Falls On The House After That Has Been Documented, Do We Have Grounds To Sue Her?

Location: North Carolina
Recently, there was a pretty bad storm that came through. A tree in my neighbor's yard was struck by lightening. The tree fell onto their house and damaged it pretty badly. My neighbors have had to do a lot of repairs to their home.
During that same storm, a rather large branch fell onto the roof of the house my husband and I rent. It was pretty scary because it was so loud. I immediately put in a maintenance request asking for the branch to be removed, the roof to be inspected, and for the tree to be inspected. Maintenance came and cleared off the roof and inspected it for damage. They didn't find any damage to the roof. The tree was not inspected, and the maintenance request was closed.
After that, I opened a new maintenance request where I specifically asked for that tree, which leans over the master bedroom, and the rest of the trees to be inspected. The property management company just closed the request without having the trees inspected.
Is there anything else I can do? If the tree falls on the house and squashes my husband, I'd be devastated. At the very least, it could damage our things. Since I put in a request and it was denied, would I potentially be able to sue the landlord for negligence or something similar? I'd like some peace of mind on this. Thank you!
