Need Help With Possible Car Mileage Scam.

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Hello , I’m a 29M living in Indianapolis and my (26F) wife was involved in a car accident which the insurance company totaled out her car and paid her for the value of it. At the time I had a cheap but reliable truck that she used while we settled and received her payout. A year later and she was ready to purchase a car. We. looked on Facebook until she found one she liked, A 2014 Dodge journey with only 59k miles and looked very clean. We went ahead and set up a day to come see it with a private seller and to me (a nom mechanic) everything checked out. Cut to a few months later and the first problem arose , we fixed it , then another and another and then another. This car has been nothing but a headache. Cut to a month ago yet another problem it kept coming overhearing but not showing signs of it actually overheating. I brought it to a very stand up and reputable local mechanic. He put the vin number into his system and it pulled up all the service records. As I’m checking out the record more I notice a mileage discrepancy which I brought up to the mechanic and he said “sometimes the dummies that work at these jiffy lubes or the five minute oil change places are in such a rush they put stuff in wrong or maybe a DMV work might have made a mistake”. Cut to today I go to pick up the car and he says I noticed that some of the engine panels don’t match and he said he thinks that this car was involved in a wreck in the past and put in a junkyard engine. Now I’m pissed. I look at the records more closely and notice that the discrepancy the mechanic was talking about was that in 2018 during a routine service record it shows a mileage of 177k miles but the next service record which is mine shows 66k .. I understand that maybe they changed the engine but the odometer should still read 177k when I went to see the car. Which leads me to believe that they wrecked this car, didn’t report it, changed the front end along with the engine and then changed the cpu or something that set back the odometer to 59k when I bought it.
All that to say. Is there anything I can do ? Seems like the seller was fully aware of what was going on and still sold me this car with the mileages tampered with. Should I get police involved? should I contact the seller and try to get him to explain and/or set the situation right ? Should I go to his house accompanied with a police officer and explain to him the situation? We spent all the money we received from the insurance for this car only to be lied to it’s kind of infuriating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
