My Mom Is Planning To Leave My Step Dad

Location: South Carolina

So my mom recently told me she’s planning on leaving my step dad in the dust. I’m posting this on her behalf for some advice or steps she should take beforehand. She’s mentioned that’s she’s going to be doing insurance and banking stuff. Our house is in her name and fully paid off, but I’m not sure about our vehicles. She’s been wanting to leave since December of 2024 but now she really wants it over with. The house is currently vacant due to my parents volunteering at a state park for free camp sites, so my mom will be moving back into the house. She plans on changing the house locks and getting security alarms and cameras set up. I want to be there for her as much as I can but I’m in college across the state. I’ll be home with her next week for spring break, so I’m going to help her pack things up slowly. Both my mom and step dad also own firearms. I just want her to be safe once this all goes down bc my step dad is known to get very angry (no abuse tho).
