My Landlord Wants To Charge Me For “emergency Repairs” That I Never Authorized. Is That Even Legal?

Location: Colorado, USA.

Last week my landlord texted me saying a “contractor” needed to come in asap because of a supposed leak in the unit below mine. I never saw any leak, but he insisted it was urgent and that they had to enter my apartment while I was at work. I said okay because he made it sound like a building wide safety thing.

I came home and found out they replaced a whole section of my bathroom floor and removed part of the drywall. No note no report nothing. The next day landlord sends me an invoice for almost 1900 dollars saying it’s my responsibility because “tenants must maintain the unit and prevent damage”. I literally had no idea anything was wrong and I never asked for repairs.

I asked for documentation and he sent me two blurry photos that don’t even look like my bathroom and a one sentence “contractor note”. He also told me if I dont pay by the end of the month he’ll “have to take legal action”.

The kicker is the downstairs neighbor told me they never reported a leak at all. Now Im freaking out because I dont have that kind of money and I never even requested any work to be done. Can he legally stick me with this bill or threaten court for something I didn’t authorize?
