My Girlfriends Boss, And The Bosses Supervisor, Have Told Her That She Is Expected To Work Overtime For Free. What Is Her Realistic Recourse?

Location: Texas
Essentially, her workload has gotten extremely heavy lately after they downsized her team to save on wages. In order to meet the increased tasking, for about 6 months she has been working 10-12 hour days to get all of the work done. Her manager and the managers boss both have consistently sung her praises for being the best member of the team, so much so that she’s been given higher levels of responsibility and work than more tenured, higher level, (and higher paid) teammates.
Eventually, unsurprisingly, she got to breaking point. She told her manager that the load has been too much, and she doesn’t think she can continue with the same work load. As a response, the manager revoked her promise of her much deserved promotion at the end of the year, and told her that she had betrayed her trust by pushing back on work which would need to be earned back if she wanted to discuss a promotion again. She told her that she is expected to work more than 40 hours a week, and thats just the job. I dug up her employment contract, and it explicitly states that she is being brought on and expected to work a total of 80 hours per 2 week pay period.
My question is, what can she do, practically? Like yes she COULD sue for back pay if she had any kind of proof of the hours she’s been working, which I doubt she really has specifically.
