My Former Roommate Is Not Letting Me Collect My Belongings After Improperly Evicting Me
Location: Pierce County in Washington state. I (F29) was renting from a woman (61) from mid-April until this last Sunday. We had no written contract for the arrangement, but had an agreement that should either of us decide to end the living arrangement, we would give the other person a 30-day notice. On Sunday, I told her that I would be moving out because this was no longer working for me, but per our agreement, I would be looking to leave mid-December and would pay the full amount for my last month. She reacted VERY poorly to this information and kicked me out that night (about 2 hours after I gave her my notice). She permitted me to collect some essentials but insisted that I leave, saying I had betrayed her trust. She let me return briefly the next day (about 1 hour) to collect my stuff, but I could not get everything in the short time I was there. She is not communicating about any future time that I might be able to come over, and I honestly do not anticipate her even reaching out until after the 2nd because of her job and holiday shopping.
I spoke with the police the night of, but they said that, legally, there was nothing they could do at the time.
I don't know what I should do or where to start to solve this problem. I got most of my essential items, but between collections and a CPAP machine, I left at least $500 of hard-to-replace items.
