My Ex Abruptly Moved Out Last Week. I Changed The Locks Last Night. He Came Back Today And Is Now Legally Threatening Me

Location: Florida

My ex and I (not married) broke up about a month ago. We have been living in a house together (my name is on the house only) while he has been looking for a place to live. One day last week when I came home from work, about 90% of his stuff was completely gone, and he had abruptly moved out without telling me. He took the key with him.

There was a small pile of his stuff still in our office, but he had told me a few weeks prior that he was getting rid of a lot of stuff and basically only wanted to take what would fit in his car and was planning on leaving everything else behind. Since I haven’t seen or heard from him since, I had my front door lock changed yesterday because I figured that was the pile of stuff he was leaving behind.

Today, while I was at work, he called me and I picked up. He was screaming at me asking why I changed the locks, and I told him he moved out without a word and did not communicate that he had to come back for any of his belongings, so I changed the lock because he can’t just come and go as he pleases. He then began to threaten me saying his address is still the house on his DL, and that he is going to call a locksmith and they will let him into the house without me being there. What legal rights do I have, and is he actually able to do this? I told him we can coordinate for him to come pick up the rest of his belongings when I am home, but he said he doesn’t want to see or be around me. But I also don’t want him going in the house alone!

I am scared to seek an eviction or a restraining order because I fear if I escalate the situation he might do something.
