My Brother (18) Slammed Me (16m) Headfirst Into The Side Of A Table Unprovoked. No Charges Were Pressed Against Him At The Time. Do I Call Cps?
Location: Texas, USA
My brother, a legal adult, slammed me headfirst into the side of a table unprovoked. This happened about four months ago. I haven't felt the same ever since yet my parents refuse to get me evaluated for any type of head trauma. I’ve been experiencing prolonged headaches, trouble balancing, light headedness, prolonged fatigue, memory issues, sudden anger and outbursts, difficulty following conversations or keeping focus, and feeling tired but being in unable to fall asleep. I’m conflicted on what to do. My parents have kept up this neglectful behavior for as long as I can remember. She says we’ll get me evaluated at the “6 month mark if you’re throwing up or falling down” and my dad said nothing was wrong with me and I was crazy. They both later attributed it to PTSD without proper diagnosis. My father was going to punish my brother by not buying him a car but backtracked on it saying “You’re gonna have to pass him by” and bought him a car anyway. Essentially I’ve been refused treatment and I’m forced to live with someone who is unpredictable and violent (my adult brother.) My father puts his hands on me when I do something he doesn’t like. He got a text on his phone from someone who called him “uncle.” I asked him if it was his nephew and he put his hands on my throat and called me a “c*ntlicker.” I’m not weak so it didn’t really hurt but it did scare me since he’s still a grown man. I’m expected to forgive him since he bought me food after, it’s the way things are in my house. He joked just now as I’m writing this about accidentally locking me out of the house in 100 degree weather because I didn’t want to work on his garden. My mom is an alcoholic and doesn't cook so every night is “fend for yourself.” She also cheats on my father with another man (I have photo evidence of this). She, like my father, often tries to ”buy” our forgiveness when she wrongs us. She thinks money gives her authority to do whatever she wants, and that allows her to ignore us. My parents and my brother constantly treat me like I’m a rag. I’m expected me to clean up after everyone with no appreciation. My brother will clog the toilet and expect me to clean up his own shit. My brother had sex with his girlfriend with me present in the room on vacation, not knowing if I was awake or not. He even joked about it, asking “Oh, did I traumatize you?” He thinks he can get away with anything because my parents refuse to discipline him, so who knows what he might do next?
I can’t take this any longer and I don’t want my little sister to be subjected to this either. I’m also worried I could have an underlying brain injury from what my brother did but my parents still refuse to get me treatment. Do I call CPS? The police? I’m conflicted.
