Location: Portland, Oregon. Can my sister do anything? Reasonable care in the state of Oregon is approximately $8,500 per month and she cared for him for 5 years- 3 of those years involved cauterization, bathing, changing diapers. She tried to work but had to quit because he kept having issues and got to the point, he could not be alone.

My sister (60F) took care of our mom until she passed in 2020. On her deathbed (2020) she asked my sister to care for her partner (deceased 2025). He was living in our mom's home with my sister and although he paid bills on his credit card my mom and sister always transferred cash to him (he said he wanted the points. He has 3 boys (56, 60, 62)- the youngest one would only help if my sister reached out- she received no help from the other two. My mom's partner told my sister he was going to leave her 50k. She tried to get him to do a will, but he just kept putting it off. When he passed away his boys presented a will from 1970 which leaves everything to them. They text my sister and state that they appreciated her and that they were working on it and she deserved the 50k however now they have gone silent. The youngest is the beneficiary on a 250k account. It appears as if they are trying to divide the money and leave her out. They are not sharing any information with her. They have made accusations that he paid for everything, but my sister has receipts. I was the one that went through all the receipts, and I kept them as I had a feeling this would happen.
