Location: Minnesota. Lasik Surgery With "lifetime Guarantee", Practice Sold. New Company Won't Honor The Guarantee

I had LASIK surgery back in 2018 at a clinic in Minnesota that offers a "lifetime guarantee" where they offer "free additional treatments" for patients who "experience vision changes over time". I was very happy with the experience at the time. Now, 7 years later, my vision is not what it used to be, so I called them to ask about the warranty process and I was informed that they no longer honor the guarantee for older patients. Apparently back in 2020 the practice was sold, and they just decided they don't need to honor the warranty for people who were patients prior to the sale. They still offer the guarantee on their website, but apparently only for patients who've had procedures since the sale.

My layman's understanding of such a situation is that if you buy a company, you buy their assets and their liabilities. A warranty such as this is essentially a liability, or perhaps an obligation, but it should be included in the sale. Are the new owners legally required to honor the warranty the company offered during prior ownership?

As a side note, from what I've ready online, the new owners are some sort of chain operation and the customer service is not very good. In addition to that, I'm not sure that I would really want to get a medical procedure from someone that I've essentially forced to operate on me by threats of legal action.

Questions:

1. Is the new owner legally obligated to honor the warranty?
2. If they are, is there an alternate option for compensation besides getting a procedure with them. Maybe a refund of the original cost, or reimbursement for the costs of having a procedure done at an alternate clinic? (Apparently my original doctor is at a different clinic now, and I would be happy to go to that clinic instead.) IIRC the total cost was under $2000, so it could be a small claims court situation.
