Landlord Advertised Central Air And Just Discovered They Do Not Have It

Hello!

I recently signed a lease and moved in over the weekend in Location: Pittsburgh, PA. The description of the property online, from their rental agency, is as follows:

This nicely updated 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment features beautiful hardwood floors, a modern kitchen and bath, and central A/C to keep you cool all summer.

Features:

Updated kitchen & bath

Gleaming hardwood floors

Central air conditioning

Bright, clean, and move-in ready

When the property manager came to do my walk thru she showed me the thermostat and said “this is how you turn on the air.” Her and I both signed off on those instructions.

Lo and behold the air wasn’t working or blowing so I called maintenance who informed me that this unit does not have central air but they would give me a window unit.

There are 4 units in this building and all 3 of them with the exception of mine have central air. It was 90 degrees for 2 days this week however what I gather is PA doesn’t have an outside temperature requirement for air conditioning, only heat.

Is this grounds for breaking a lease? I do not want a unit with window units- they are unsafe and not as energy efficient. I would have not rented if they disclosed this before. I wanted to see if I even have a leg to stand on to ask for termination. I know this seems very petty but the maintenance technician and other tenants have suggested this management company will screw you over in anyway possible is quite worrisome and I’d love to get out before I find out how bad it can be.

The lease does not reference any amenities offered at all, only generic notes about allowing maintenance to enter for repair etc.
