I'm Pretty Sure I've Been Scammed At A Dealership And They Aren't Honoring Warranty, Do I Have A Case Here?
Location: Columbus Ohio
Purchased a car off of a lot at the end of June from a small dealership. We were in a draught at the time and our first heavy rain happened about 3-4 weeks later. At that time I called them about a water leak coming from inside the cabin on the driver's side. They have a 30 day warranty, mind you. I was told they were in a transition and that they would call me back to address it.
They were bought out by a larger dealership and I never received a call back. I opted to try and fix the leak myself to no avail.
Fast forward and there are now suddenly electrical issues happening that are shutting the car off completely. Called the dealership and explained my concerns. At this time I mentioned the leak might be related but I wasn't sure. They told me to tow it to them and they would take care of it, so I did. I towed it 40 minutes away
I called every day, but it was always the same thing. That they're waiting on approval from the sales department. I called the sales side, customer service, service tech, all of it. Would often get sent to a line where I was on hold for ten minutes just to be told that the line was busy. I asked to speak to the GM on multiple occasions, left voicemails, everything.
They tried to charge me just to diagnose the damn thing, $180. Asked about a loaner car, no loaner cars available. I'm screwed.
I finally get the thing diagnosed a week later. A WEEK. They send me a text. Not a call or anything, just a text with a link with the repairs. 1,700, for WATER DAMAGE.
My mom calls this time, since she lives by the dealership. There's clear indication that the GM is dodging our calls based on what was said. So she went into the dealership to talk to him herself. Funny, he was right there at the front of the lobby and available.
They talked. He looked into things. They agreed to drop repairs to 1,000. This was a 14,000 car and I called about the problems within the first month while still under warranty.
Do I have any rights here??? Do I have a case? I'm still paying for this car for the next 6 years on a loan and I'm livid without now.
