I'm Being Sued By Capital One, But I'm Finding Out Months After They Filed Via Google

Hi guys! Location: New Hanover County, NC.

I'm in a bit of a scary situation. Tonight I was googling my own name out of sheer curiosity. Because of this I discovered I was being sued by Capital One for old credit card debt after the court papers popped up. I went and checked my county's portal for court cases and it was real. The issue is the case/papers say they were filed on September 26th, but I have yet to receive them. The date on these papers are to my old address I haven't lived at in almost two years. The document says I have 30 days to respond, and it's obviously been more than 30 days, but I was never officially served and there is no court date on the summons. I believe it may have just bee filed but i'm not 100% sure. The status also just says "pending".

What should my next move be? Do I call the court? Capital One? Am I going to jail?

I'm 25 and am so beyond poor I can only afford to rent out a room in my friends trailer, I rely on food pantries, and was a Medicaid recipient for years before I lost it earlier this year after recertification issues. I was so stupid and took out this credit card as a teenager, thinking eventually I could pay it but poverty has been a worsening battle these past couple years. According to this document Capital One wants nearly $6000. I have nothing, and couldn't afford to pay more than $25-50 at most a month. I'm so scared if I reach out i'll be attacked for the whole 6 grand, or for monthly payments I just can't afford.

What do I do?
