Ex Husband And His Never Ending Stuff
Location: I’m from VA.
I recently got a divorce from my ex husband. I have a no contact protective order against him and I plan on maintaining this. Our separation agreement basically stated that he keeps what is his and I keep what is mine. I’ve had all of his stuff stored in my shed for over a year at this point. (He was in jail initially, but he’s been out since last summer) He’s even taken me to court to try to amend our protective order so he (himself) can come to my house to get his things and I said no. I did however give him permission to use his dad this uncle to come get his belongings.
Well it’s been MONTHS and I’ve heard nothing. Absolute crickets. I don’t want to keep his things here and he will absolutely just leave them here if I don’t do something. What can I do? Can I get rid of his things? Can I write a letter with 30 days notice that I will trash his things if he doesn’t arrange to get it? Do I bring his stuff to a storage locker and prepay for a couple of months and then just give his dad the key? I’ve reached out to multiple lawyers and no one gets back in touch with me and I’m at a loss of what to do. He was super abusive and I’m ready to move on with my life and not be his free storage locker anymore.
