I Helped A Woman Attempt To Run From The Police
Location: Oklahoma
This happened to me last night.
I'm the closing manager of a grocery store. A regular customer approached my cashier who paged me. She asked about a side or back door she might leave through, saying she her ex was out front and she didn't want him to see her. She even said something about needing to get a restraining order as I walked her to the back room. I let her out our loading dock, fully believing she was in danger from an abusive ex.
The truth was her father had tipped her off that the cops were looking for her. They got her immediately after she's gone around to the alleyway. They hadn't been in the side parking lot, but probably had a car parked behind us. I'd heard a noise as I was locking the door back, so I'd gone out to check, thinking her ex had caught her only to see two cop cars and her in cuffs.
I cooperated, apologized and explained, walked them through where I'd walked her, and answered questions the following day. They have footage from our cameras to see when her father talked to her and she. She possibly stole a couple items from us that were found in her purse.
My question is should I expect the possibility of being called as a witness for any trial that may happen? They have the camera footage of me letting her out, but our cameras don't have audio, so they only know what she said from my statement.
